
KRISTEN KOBINSKY, M.S. Clinical Trainee (she/her)
Kristen is a Clinical Trainee at Maplewood Psychology who enjoys working with adolescents and adults of all ages. She believes that everyone deserves a space where they feel heard and understood. Her therapy comes from a person-centered place of genuine empathy and acceptance. She believes that between using one’s strengths and learning new coping skills, everyone has the ability to achieve emotional growth. She has experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, trauma work and motivational interviewing. Some of the issues she has helped people work on include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, interpersonal relationships, and stress management.
Kristen obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Arizona, with a minor in Spanish. She attended graduate school at the University of Kansas, where she obtained a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Previously, she has done therapy work at a women’s prison and residential facilities for substance abuse. She is currently working toward her LPCC licensure.
Some of Kristen’s self-care activities include: gardening, playing sports, dancing, watching something funny, spending time with family and friends and meditating.
